Child Wonder

What is it about kids and their ability to restore in us the Wonder of Life!

Nicholas and I spent a couple hours in our woods on Saturday afternoon. It's one of our favorite places to be when the weather is right, and now, in the peaking of Fall here in Atlanta, it's right.

We now have "six friends" in the woods. With every tree he remembered or found anew, he added it to the list. "This tree is our friend, G'ma, isn't it! That makes six friends." The fallen friends that let us peel off their bark. The friends that let us climb them.

And don't forget snack time! "I want some apple, G'ma, and Teddy Grahams."

The restoration of my body, soul, and mind almost always has Nicholas in it somewhere. I guess that's what grandkids are for. Thank God for you, precious full-of-wonder child. I missed you!
