Watercolor Sundays, Coloring, etc.

Many of you who follow me on Facebook have already seen these, but for the record, here they are again.  I'll try to add these after every month of Sundays:

August 9 (photo manipulation):
"To build may have to be the slow and laborious task of years.  To destroy can be the thoughtless
act of a single day." -- Winston Churchill

 August 16 (photo manipulation):
"Old age is when the liver spots show through your gloves."
-- Phyllis Diller

August 23 (photo manipulation):
"Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun."
-- Pablo Picasso

August 30 (photo manipulation):
"Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree."
-- Martin Luther

For some reason, these last weeks I've been coloring up a storm.  Don't ask me why but I'm addicted to it right now and am having a blast.

I was attracted to this design because of the upcoming season,
which happens to be my favorite of them all.

Every once in awhile there's a centerfold in one of my (14) coloring books,
and I tackle it, a bit with fear and trembling.  HA!
You really have to pay attention.

And as most of you know by now, I LOVE the VPP
(vanishing point perspective).

I'm not yet happy with the color quality of these scans, which are much brighter (HD)
in real life.  Still working on that.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

It really is my favorite time of the year!
So, I'm out walking...and especially like what it feels like after a rain.

  1. VERY FUN!

The colored pages remind me of fabric, and I want to design a quilt with them. :) Esp the leaves! You can take an image and design fabric at Spoonflower!

    I love the quotes too!

    1. WOW. Very cool, Ruth. I'm coloring a design now that has reminded me of your quilts. It's not easy figuring it out...am still working on it! :)

  3. I know how much fun you have with the colouring, times flies :) too.....
Good thing you collect the watercolours in your blog, now you can keep track how many you made. I love that kind of manipulation.
Wonderful collage of your walk. I know you are always short of eyes. IHVJ.

    1. They actually say it's good to color outside the lines, Bill, so maybe you have a head start on me!

  5. Yes fall, or autumn as I call it, is a lovely season. However Summer still has it's grip here, 30C yesterday and for the past 4 days. Spent yesterday on a lovely sandy beach with my DIL and the grandies, swimming, building sandcastle cities, had one of the best days of the summer.
The water colours are nice but I still think you are CHEATING!

    1. We've had lots of rain lately, Sham, and the temps hover around 60 F...my kind of weather. This is definitely my time of the year. Both of my kids were also born in Autumn!

Cheating or not, it's one of the most soulful things I've ever done. How can I complain about that!

  6. What great projects! The photo manipulations are very effective (part of me would like to see the original as well ), and your quotations to go with them are spot on.

As for the colouring in, I am only just beginning to appreciate the enjoyment that can give.

Like you autumn is my most favourite time of year!

    1. Hmmmm. I'll have to think about using the originals as well as the watercolor manipulations, Anne. Hmmmmm. Some of the images I use have already been posted as originals, but you'd have to go hunt for them. HA!

The coloring right now seems to be making up for lost time. As soon as I finish one design I'm eager and ready to start another. :)

  7. Coloring is such a relaxing and fun activity. I love the flower imagery and the quotes. It's such a joy to come here to visit with you and artistry. You are a creator of love, light and smiles. :-) I'm linking to another blog of mine....you may (or may not) be interested.

  8. Nope, didn’t see these on Facebook. They’re terrific. I especially appreciate the Churchill and Picasso quotes and the snail picture. Keep it up.

    1. I see you on FB from time to time, Ted, but it's always hard to keep up with everyone there, I know. Anyway, I get so much pleasure out of these watercolor manipulations...even if it IS cheating, as Sham keeps telling me...and finding quotes to match Thanks for the vote of confidence.

    2. It’s not cheating any more than painting with oil cheated on the laborious task of fresco. Media change with technology, and creative people like you explore the limits of what can be done with them. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s cheating.

    3. Thank you, Ted. I needed that...especially from you!

  9. I adore watercolors and how these look....but my eyes were crossing when looking at the coloring. I am intimidated by all the lines. I have been drawing my own lines in mandalas and coloring those....it's a start! :)

    1. Obviously not all eyes are the same, Donna, so you have to pay attention to your own! The coloring is very soothing and calming for me, though I'm not always as steady as I once was. The fact that you're doing something...being creative...is surely "enough!"
