Watercolor Sunday and Saturday's Color: November 2015

I don't know about you but these months sure seem to be F L Y I N G.  Can you believe November really came and went so quickly?  I'm a broken record because I'm saying this every month.

For Watercolor Sundays in November on Facebook, because the month started on a Sunday, there are FIVE of them:

 November 1 (photo manipulation):

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
― Albert Camus

 November 8 (photo manipulation):

"A new study shows that kids who eat a lot of candy are more likely to be arrested for violent behavior as adults,
said that weird old lady who gives out apples on Halloween." ― Seth Meyers

 November 15 (photo manipulation):

“All-cheering Plenty, with her flowing horn,
Led yellow Autumn, wreath'd with nodding corn."
― Robert Burns [Brigs of Ayr]

 November 22 (photo manipulation):

“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer.
And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.” ― Maya Angelou

 November 29 (photo manipulation):

"The Christmas tree is a symbol of love, not money. There's a kind of glory to them when they're all lit up
that exceeds anything all the money in the world could buy." ― Andy Rooney

These are my coloring posts on Facebook for November:

(finished on 10 July 2003, posted on FB 7 November 2015)
I saw scroll embellishments on this Celt mandala.

This Celt mandala design totally surprised me. If I had known it would end up being
ONE LONG CONVOLUTED LINE, I might have chosen a different color?!?!

From the Color Me Happy book my sister, Nancy, recently gave me, I did indeed feel so happy with this design,
reminding me of Plenty and Celebration and Thanksgiving...and, oh yes, of Henna.

This Celt mandala reminds me of a Christmas tree...which I always trimmed the weekend after Thanksgiving.
In other words, NOW.
But in the Netherlands, it is tradition to NOT trim the Christmas tree until after Sinterklaas comes
on December 5th, the day of gift-giving.  For the traditional Dutch, gifts do NOT go under the Christmas tree.

Now that December is here, we're really into count-down mode till the new year.  But first, I'm now working on the myriad images from our 3-day trip to the Koblenz area of Germany last weekend, getting over the hump of being away from family over Thanksgiving.

And speaking of Sinterklaas, he reminds me that December 5 (two days from now!) is my SIXTH year since moving here to the Netherlands.  Talk about Time F L Y I N G.  You know it's coming, so drum roll, please, and repeat after me:  "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!"  [Though I must add that Astrid will tell you most vehemently that Sinterklaas is NOT Santa Claus...but we won't quibble about that right now....]

  2. 'Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus'.... Dutch translation: I believe in Sinterklaas...... 6 years and we are still not done here!!!! When I look back what happened, what we did, what we saw.... amazing, we can make a movie out of it and it will be a best-seller. Happy as happy can be and thankful for our life and nothing else to wish for.
I love that you make there 'reminders' of the watercolours and the colouring. I just love it that you do these things that are soulful for you!!! IHVJ

  3. Wow! I sure like your coloring art – the colors are beautiful and go together so well. I also like your “manipulated” photos – makes them into lovely graphics. What manipulation do you use?

I was surprised by the Seth Meyers quote about kids eating candy becoming violent adults – I just thought they would get fat with diabetes … But then, my daughter (the doctor) told me that a recent study shows that people who take multi-vitamins every day die earlier than those who don’t take any. So I stopped taking mine.

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Vagabonde, and commenting. These Saturdays and Sundays have become very soulful to me...more than I can explain.

I think the Seth Meyers quote is sarcasm/joking since he's a comedian. HA! But what an interesting thing from your doctor daughter about multi-vitamins. My guess is they don't kill us off earlier than otherwise...but maybe they really don't extend our lives in the long run?

  4. You are right, Christmas creeps up when you are not looking, then all of a sudden, BAM! It's here. I'm still unprepared, but getting myself organised gradually. Now how about doing some REAL drawing instead of using the computer???????

    1. You can't have it all, Sham. HA! At least you know I do REAL coloring. Isn't that enough for you??? BTW, I use the computer to process my normal images, but that's expected, I guess???
