Watercolor Sunday and Saturday's Color: June 2016

Now that the July 4th holiday weekend is past...(yup, I almost forgot)...here's JUNE!

For Watercolor Sunday on Facebook:

June 5 (photo manipulation):
"The most interesting information comes from children, for they tell all they know and then stop."
--Mark Twain

[International Day for Protection of Children, or Children's Day,
is celebrated every June 1 since 1950.]

June 12 (photo manipulation):
"Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success."
--Henry Ford

June 19 (photo manipulation):
"A man's children and his garden both reflect the amount of weeding done
during the growing season." --Anonymous

Happy Father's Day to those of you who observe it.

June 26 (photo manipulation):
"To believe in life is to believe there will always be someone who will water the geraniums."
--Flavia

My Facebook coloring posts for June:

(finished on 30 May 2016, posted on FB 4 June 2016)
This is what I mean by a "complex"design that takes many hours to finish.  It's 8 x 11 inches and intricate.  I picked 3 colors and just went with the flow...until it kinda developed its own pattern within the design.
From my Mind Body Zen book.

This Apache design represents the Whirlpool from where the "four corners" stream.
It reminds me of how Life whirls around us, often taking us back to people from long ago.
Just recently I was re-connected to a girlfriend from Ann Arbor in 1969 and one from Pasadena
in 1980, both through their sons here on FB.
From my Native American Mandalas book.

(finished on 23 July 2003, posted on FB 18 June 2016)
As we reel from the atrocities happening all over the world these days (including the stories
that don't get any press!), let us "see" how intertwined our lives are wherever we live.
From my Mandalas of the Celts book.

(finished on 1 March 2016, posted on FB 25 June 2016)
Sometimes, after finishing a design, I'm not really satisfied with the colors I've chosen, but at least this feels
very summery to me.  HAPPY, BRIGHT SUMMER days ahead for all of us.
From my Mind Body Zen book.

And now that July really is here, stay cool!

  2. I really like it that you file these posts... there are so many of them that it is hard to remember which ones you did. Love it and the fishermen look so good :)

    1. Thank you, Astrid, especially for being my biggest fan club! As you already know, I've had to come up with a filing system that tells me when I've used an image. Otherwise even I don't remember!

  3. Love that second one!! Hope you two had a nice weekend! It's been a revolving door here...and now catching my breath before I head to Virginia on Thursday!

    1. I figured you've been "revolving," Robin. HA! Happy trails to you this week. I know you always have mixed emotions when you go back to the homestead.

    1. Most kind of you, dear Maria. Have you tried your own hand at coloring yet? Does it even interest you? My color choices aren't always the best, but when they work, I'm very pleased. Thanks.

  6. Love the butts, and Henry Ford’s sentiment is fine, but getting chummy with Henry Ford is a bit like buddying up to Trump. Did you know Henry Ford tried to run for President?

    1. OMG, Ted. NO, I had no idea. Hmmmm. Maybe one day I'll find an "appropriate" Trump quote to make a point??? (or not!)
