Down to the Wire

Yup, today was pre-op. All 2-1/2 hours of it! Besides the usual blood work and urinalysis, there was an EKG and a chest xray. Paperwork, of course. And waiting. We found out the surgery is at 12:50p tomorrow, not at 1:30 as we had been told. So we need to be there at 10:45a. Donica's mom will come join me at some point along the way (from 70 miles away).

Donica is expecting me to drive her home after recovery but she has the option to spend the night at the hospital. If so, I'll spend the night with her in her room. We'll both go prepared, just in case.

We both have felt your presence and prayers with us, which is why we both go into this with peace and calmness of spirit. Thank you, again and again! And yes, I'll catch you all up as soon as possible.

  1. Ginnie/Donica: I'd suggest you spend the night there (Donica- I know you'll hate it and want to go home, but do it for yourself, for Ginnie and for us. Just to make sure, ok? Please??). I'll be thinking of you and sending good vibes.

Read you when I'm "above you"... geographically, that is ;)

  3. You both know we're with you in heart, prayers and spirit. Yes, please listen and DO SPEND the night. Best for you both and then for the rest of us. Do votes count? Now it's 2-0. Donica BIG HUGS for a speedy recovery and for you too Ginnie!

  5. Everything's going to be just fine. And yes, staying over night sounds like a very good option. Less stress for everyone concerned.

We'll all be there with you in spirit.

  6. CS: I just found out from Donica that since this is considered outpatient surgery, her insurance won't cover an overnight unless the doctor requests it. So we'll have to see what the doctor says!

Thanks for all your good vibes...and mine to you as you get ready to leave for Canada!

Ruth: Thanks, Sweetie. This does indeed feel so much better than the alternative. She never knew when this would pop up again, which was part of the stress!

Judy: Your heart, prayers and spirit mean the world to us at this time, dear friend. Yes, votes count but only if the doctor's is included, it appears. We'll see. Donica usually does not do sick well, so maybe there's hope. :)

Susan d: Thank you so much for your best wishes!

Christina: The spirits of all of you will be like angels around us throughout the day! In fact, we'll be leaving the house in about 45 minutes.

  7. SO many thoughts, hugs, prayers and love for both of you!! Mom, so glad you're both on the same continent for this (not that either of you would let it be any other way). Donica, I'm so looking forward to hearing you say that you're finally pain-free! IT'S TIME!!

  13. TO ALL OF YOU: I'm dead tired right now and need to go to bed but I want you to know that we are both home tonight after 8 hours at the hospital. Donica even walked upstairs to sleep in our bed instead of the downstairs couch. The surgery was a success and I'll hopefully catch you up on it in a post tomorrow!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!
