Watercolor Sunday and Saturday's Color: February 2016

When you realize one-sixth of this new year is already gone, suddenly you kinda sit up and take notice, right?

For February 2016, here are the nominees for my Facebook Watercolor Sunday posts (and the winner is....oops, sorry):

February 7 (photo manipulation):
"Life will show you masks that are worth all your carnivals." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

February 14 (photo manipulation):
"Love wins, love always wins." -- Mitch Albom

February 21 (photo manipulation):
"As a vessel is known by its sound whether it be cracked or not,
so men are proved by their speeches whether they be wise or foolish." -- Demosthenes

February 28 (photo manipulation):
"A great wind is blowing, and it gives you either imagination or a headache."
-- Catherine the Great

And now the February nominees for my Facebook coloring posts:

(finished on 19 July 2003, posted on FB 6 February 2016)
For America, it's Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) next week, but for us here in Europe,
it's Carnival this weekend.  I hope this Celt mandala is wild enough for the occasion?

(finished on 5 December 2015, posted on FB 13 February 2016)
This had HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY written all over it from my Color Me Happy book.

(finished on 4 February 2016, posted on FB 20 February 2016)
From a new Mind Body Zen book, this design is like none other I've ever colored.
It was challenging, meticulous, detailed and invigorating, using a 0.3 mm fineliner Staedtler pen.
(Thanks to sister Nancy for the book and pen set!)

Sometimes K.I.S.S. (keep. it. simple. stupid.) is the order of the day,
especially with all that's going on in the news these days (from my Prismatic Design book).

There you have it.
Enjoy a crazy March, now, for all its crazy reasons!

  2. Yes, very bright and fun!

I am thinking about getting Inge a coloring book when I'm in NY this weekend. I am at such a loss for how to support her (besides just being here), and I think this could be a "mindless" meditation for her that could be soulfully healing. It will be fun to look for them at the museum shops!

    1. Now, are you talking about the watercolor (Dutch girls kissing) or the coloring, Robin?? HA! We actually have a wee porcelain statue of the Dutch girls kissing. :)

  4. I don’t know what I like better – your manipulated photos (the windmill is lovely) or you artful colored drawings – you certainly have been very creative lately. I went back to your other posts and can never get enough of looking at all the pretty houses in your area, the statues, castles, etc. Just to look at your varied and colorful posts would make any one smile and feel very happy. Your happiness shines through it all. Actually you have what I have been talking about in my last post – joie de vivre.

    1. Thank you for seeing it, Vagabonde, and expressing it here. I have never been happier in my life and often think, "What a way to go!" :)

  5. I think Vagabonde is right. 'Joie de vivre' is the right expression here. It shows that you are happy and in a good place. And I am the lucky one that lives with you. I am impressed with your never ending creativity even if you call it 'your work'. (work as in creating the collages) It does not stay unnoticed. IHVJ Wonderful variety again.

    1. I like how Vagabonde has described the difference between happiness and joy in her own blog. JOY is what's the operative word here. I'm happy, yes, but also FULL OF JOY! Thank you for sharing my life like you do.
