After 16 years of living here in the Netherlands, guess what! We found another best-kept secret of this country, this time through our housemaster, Mark, here where we live in our senior-living community.
It's called the Oude Ambachten & Speelgoed Museum (Old Crafts & Toys Museum), located in Terschuur, NL, located 68 km/42 miles northeast of us.
We immediately knew it would be a photographer's paradise, and it was, as you can see from our visit this past Saturday, February 7!

Talk about being short of eyes (one of my favorite Dutch expressions)!
This isn't even the half of it, but you surely get the gist.
So, a big shout-out to another best-kept secret here in the Netherlands. If you're ever in the area and need a good photo-op or a WOW-experience, we highly recommend it.

There's so much to admire there, and so much to recognize.
You must have been amazed, and you enjoyed the photos at home, and I'm going to watch the film soon.
It was s trip down Memory Lane for both Astrid and me, Marjolein, as you can imagine. I always love seeing the photos on the big screen once I get home. Double the pleasure!

ReplyDeleteWe actually saw some young women dusting when we arrived at the 10 am opening, Marie, so they clearly have it all under control. It's not a job I would ever covet! Definitely well worth the visit! And thank you.

ReplyDeleteGood memory, Ruth! Those are alcoholic drinks made from spices/herbs. We used to buy one every place we went because they all are a bit different and specific to the city/area. We have the entire top of a cabinet full of the empty bottles on display! :)

DeleteThat was such a great idea to go there after housemaster Mark told us about it. What a fun place and we were short of eyes all the time. Almost too much to take it all in. An amazing collection from "Memory Lane" and very recognizable :)

Thank you, Astrid. What amazes me most about it is that so many people we know here, including you, never even heard of it! Makes me wonder how many other places like that are out there, just waiting for us to find them!
