The Coke We Serve Is Pepsi

This is another favorite Scotland photo (well, not the photo but the saying) which was taken in our lodge's restaurant. IN SCOTLAND!

Which raises the question: what do you call a soft drink? I grew up in Michigan and called it pop. Elsewhere it's called soda. In Atlanta (headquarters for Coca Cola), we're so ego-centric we call everything Coke, even if it's not!

  1. That is hilarious. When you think about it though, there are lots of products that we refer to by a specific brand name even when we may be really talking about a competitor brand. Xerox machines (could be Canon, HP, or Epson), Kleenex tissues (could be Puffs). There are more examples, but none come to mind at the moment.

  2. You're right, Mark. Good examples. It just tickled me to see this in Scotland. Of course, most of us were tourists, so who knows how/when/by whom it got started there. BTW, HI! See you on Saturday evening. :)
