Reflection, Again!

If ever there was a Mercury Retrograde case-in-point (yes, we're in another one, July 4-28!), this is it! In my last post on Reflection, following our holiday weekend at the family cottage in Michigan, I used a photo totally unrelated to our trip, forgetting that I had just taken reflection photos of our lake. DUH! (Amy, I guess I must have wanted Mr. D to see where you worked instead!)

Anyhoo, here's our dock on Horseshoe Lake in the early hour before breakfast when the lake is like glass. It's one of my favorite times of the day, when life is still and quiet and calm.

It's when the early birds catch the worm. When you can hear a whisper almost a mile away. When cars and freeways exist in another world. When you wonder why/how the tyranny of the urgent ever gets to you.

We need those times, don't we! We look for them when we have vacation time, knowing our souls will be revived.

In the meantime, if we can find Relection in our office building, or wherever we work, I'm guessing we're downright lucky! So, thank you, Mercury Retrograde. You did your job.

  1. I love those photos! They're so peaceful and remind me very much of thee lake we were at last year. When I think that we should have been leaving for on holidays this Sunday... *sigh*

  2. simply beautiful. I love them too. I always love shots like that. I'm hoping to catch one or two soon.

Oh and that's so crazy about CS, because we leave this sunday for our short holiday.

  3. Ginnie, funny you mentioned this, because I thought when you talked about a post about reflection at the cottage you were going to use one of these photos! :)

Such a gorgeous time of day. Very nice shots.

  5. CS: I hope I'm not confused but it sounds like you are leaving for holiday on Sunday, at the same time as ET? Whatever/wherever, I trust you'll have the peace of these photos!

ET: I DO know that you leave this Sunday and am counting the days with you. I know you are soooo ready!

We just found out that our DSL line was fried in a storm last week. Our phone was dead for 4 days or more and was finally connected when we arrived home on the 4th. But now they have to replace the circuit, taking approx. 10-15 days. In the meantime, we're on dial-up! Which is a round-about way of saying I'm not sure what I can do (2 different computers and Donica will figure that out tonight) but if I can guest-blog for you, that might be fun :) Just don't know if it'll be fun on dial-up? Guess I'll have to find out how my own blog does first! :)

Ruth: Can you believe how crazy my mind was on that! I do believe MR hits Geminis and Virgos the hardest because we're both ruled by Mercury!

  8. Tim: Yes, they do!

Rachel: I'm hoping to get them done by tomorrow. BUT, we just found out our DSL circuit was fried last week in a thunder storm and is in the process of being replaced (10-15 days??). Dial-up is the pits, even tho' it's better than nothing. But Donica thinks it may keep me from making my album. I guess we'll soon see!

  9. What a lovely place, and a real nice one for reflection. And while you make me think of some reflection, I think I'm going to read the english version of Anne Lindberg, "Gift from the Sea". I red that book in french many years ago, and I finally found the english version, but I never began to read it. You probably know that book, it's a lovely reflection about life that Mrs. Lindberg gave to us. I just love that book and recommand it to everybody. :O)

  10. Clo: Yes, I love that book! But it's been a loooong time since I read it, so maybe I need to read it again as well (if I knew French, I'd read it in French :).

Gustav: I must say that I thought of you often, saying "Gustav would take a picture of that!"

  11. Water is good for the soul...

I read about Mercury being retrograde this week and am now reluctant to the leave the house. ;-)

  12. Christina: Definitely, water is good for the soul. All those positive ions :)

You can and should leave the house :) Just think twice to make sure you have everything you need before walking out the door--keys, purse, license, etc.

  13. Wow, how beautiful!!! It surely looks like you had a wonderful weekend...how could you not being surrounded by such beauty!

Thanks for the info about Mercury Retrograde. Interesting. I've been really discombobulated lately since exactly July 4th and perhaps this is a partial explination!!

  14. Mad: Oh, yes! Believe me, MR is definitely the culprit for many snafus at this time--like our DSL circuit being fried and having to be replaced. So now we're on dial-up for a few days. UGH! How quickly we forget what that was like!

To be honest, I thought I had already posted about our January trip to start some renovations in Jaap's bungalow, as a gift from Astri...
