"Last Supper" Gambling?

What is it with Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper ads! Remember the French fashion ad last March showing Jesus and all the disciples as women except one?

Now it's a gambling ad with a caption that says "There's a place for fun and games," by Irish bookmaker Paddy Power, showing Jesus with a stack of poker chips, Judas with 30 pieces of silver and other apostles clutching hands of cards.

To put it mildly, in predominantly Roman Catholic Ireland there's an uproar over the ad. Father Micheal MacGreil, Jesuit priest at St Francis Xavier's Church in central Dublin, branded the ad as "grossly inappropriate and vulgar. This is an insult to the religious sensitivities of a lot of people and should be withdrawn immediately."

Paddy Power's response is "It's a tongue-in-cheek situation -- people aren't supposed to take it as seriously as some people seem to be."

What do you think?
